In a recent online Press Conference, the Austrian optics manufacturer Kahles released their first-ever thermal imaging products. Named HELIA TI these thermal imaging devices come in either a 25 mm or a 35 mm version, where the larger number means better thermal performance. The models are said to be optimized for hunting, with the note: “Not a button too many, none in the wrong place. Uncompromising simple and fast detection day and night.”

Kahles @ TFB:

The sensor is a VOx uncooled, 384×288 pixels at 17 μm with a Thermal Sensitivity NETD of <35mK. The display resolution is 1024×768 pixels (OLED). There are three color modes: White Hot, Black Hot and Red Only.

RADICALLY EASY DETECTING

To stay at the cutting edge of hunting technology, you need to continuously adapt and develop both hunting strategies and equipment. Development and construction of the new HELIA thermal imaging products began in 2020, by which time the technology had evolved to a level that met with KAHLES’ exacting standards. Designed for uncompromising simple and fast detection day and night, we now present:

HELIA TI 25 – for fast detection with a wide field of view
A large field of view of 26 m/100 m allows rapid detection of game or heat sources. Ideal for searching large areas and forming an overview.

Helia Ti 25

HELIA TI 35 – reliable identification with high detail resolution
The high-quality imaging and detail resolution makes this device ideal for reliable identification of game or heat sources with a field of view of 19 m/100 m.

The new HELIA TI thermal imaging devices (25/35 mm) bring together state-of-the-art thermal imaging technology and features designed specifically for hunting. They provide a radical combination of intuitive, easy handling and excellent imaging performance. For the user, this means not a button too many and none in the wrong place. Two sophisticated products that help users concentrate on the absolute essentials.

The special housing design has been developed to allow easy, ergonomic operation and effortless observation. In addition, the housing shape intuitively supports the correct handling of the device. Besides that, the devices feature a roll-proof shape, easy-grip armouring and perfectly placed controls such as buttons and adjustment wheels. The housing is drop-proof and waterproof and can even be used in extreme temperatures from -20 up to +50 degrees Celsius.

With just two ergonomically located buttons on the top, the devices offer ideal intuitive operation. A very clear menu with only five sub-items can be used to adjust settings individually, such as contrast, brightness, Automaticlight and image sharpness calibration. Fast settings relevant for hunting such as colour modes (White Hot, Black Hot, Red Only) and digital zoom (1x, 2x, 4x) can be selected directly using the two buttons rather than having to open a menu.

The two devices have different optical magnifications of 2.3 (TI 35) and 1.7 (TI 25), high-resolution OLED displays for detailed images and integrated rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

We know that quick reactions are often essential when hunting. The HELIA TI devices are therefore ready to use in just two seconds after being switched on/activated.

The intelligent display uses a tilt and motion sensor to automatically switch itself on and off, which avoids any distracting light output from the display and allows immediate reactivation without having to press a button. This function also contributes to efficient energy management for the devices, allowing a very long battery life of up to 8 hours.

All components used as well as the accessories supplied are radically optimised for hunting and built to last. A three-year warranty and the usual high service standards from KAHLES ensure quick and competent assistance if required.
