Arsenal, the famous Bulgarian firearms manufacturer (also known as circle 10), is very well known and admired by Middle Eastern shooters and gun enthusiasts for making reliable and rugged firearms especially due to the milled receiver guns which are appreciated in the Middle East (and other regions) and buyers are normally willing to pay a higher price for them compared to the stamped receiver counterparts from other factories. The Yemeni Gun channel “Silahi” presenter made a quick review of his brand new Arsenal AR-M9F showing some of its interesting features.
Generally, the rifle has the same mechanism and operation as any AK-47 based rifle. It’s chambered in 5.56x45mm with a chrome lined bore for a longer lifespan and durability, and also comes with an effective muzzle device that functions as a flash hider and recoil compensator.
The sights are luminous night sights for better assistance in shooting at night and no/low light environments. The gas tube cover and handguard are made of polymer and contain isolation materials from inside to protect the metal from environmental effects (e.g. humidity). Also, the rifle comes with a built-in scope mount.
The buttstock here is tubular metal bars which makes it pretty lightweight yet very strong and unlike the AK-103, the buttstock here folds to the right side, also it has a removable rubber plate. The trigger is smooth and has a very light pull.
One of the most interesting features of this rifle is the fire control switch. Because the buttstock folds to the right, in addition to the normal lever on the right side of the receiver, there is another switch on the pistol grip that moves simultaneously with original lever and can be switched by the thumb. Also, the pistol grip itself is thicker than other models and makes it very handy.
The rifle comes with the bayonet, sling, oil lubricator and 3 clear waffle pattern magazines (one 20-round and two 30-round mags).
Another Yemeni gun channel on YouTube called “Yemen Tactical” showed the presenter shooting this rifle in full auto mode with minimal recoil generated, while in another video he shot the AKM fully automatic and the recoil was –eh, you all know it- which tells us how controllable is the AR-M9F.
